On Finding Love

You know that saying; what you seek is seeking you?

It leaves me doubtful, because what if the things I want don’t want me back?

Isn’t that what life has taught us? Little heartbreaks. Losses. Disappointments. Things we desperately wanted that simply didn’t choose us.

So should I trust my own history, or these random inspirational quotes?

I thought about it and realised that maybe this metaphor needs to be rewritten.

Because it talks about seeking.

And us humans, we are indecisive, contradictory, forever evolving.

Today, we’re seeking love. Tomorrow, a different lover. The day after, more money. Then a simple life by the sea.

So are all these things seeking me too?
As and when I’m seeking them?
It sounds illogical. Silly, actually.
So let’s talk facts instead.

I often sit outside the cafe with my dogs, looking out at the fields in front of us. But we aren’t really seeing the same view. I see shades of green and they see brown. The greenery that nourishes me simply doesn’t exist in their world.

So which world is real? And what is the actual colour of the forest, of the grass, of the field?
Is it green? Is it brown? Or something else entirely?

It’s all of these things… and more…

Because the world we experience is simply what we see..

So I decided to start seeing love.
And somehow, I began finding it. Wherever I went.

In hospitals. At home. In restaurants. On flights. In strangers. At red lights. In ordinary moments. In everyday life.
And what was meant to be the worst year of my life became a beautiful one.

Not because it was pretty.. it wasn’t. But because I stopped seeking love and began noticing it instead.

And love, it’s one of those things that, when you begin to see, it comes to life.

It sprouts like the wild grass growing across these fields, slowly taking over every path, winding around the stones and boulders that have stood there for centuries.

It might not be easy, but it also isn’t fantasy.

And if I could find it in my hospital bed, again and again. What are you? But a reflection of me.

We’re like twins in this ginormous universe, living in the same world but experiencing it differently.

Because the one thing that is truly ours is how we see.
